Half Term and Halloween Fun!
October half term is upon us and it’s spooky season again so you’ll be pleased to know there’s lots to do in Aylesbury to keep all the family entertained!
As with all school holidays, Discover Bucks Museum are putting on a range of activities including crafts, spooky science sessions, a creative writing workshop, spooky storytelling and on Halloween a trick or treat trail in the oldest building in Aylesbury. Find out about all the sessions here and don’t forget your Halloween costumes!
If Halloween is your thing there are lots of events and themed sessions at entertainment venues across the town centre including Horrible Halloween at Friars Square Shopping Centre, Spooktaculor at Zoomania and a Pumpkin Party at Flip Out. Outside the town centre you might like to attend the Hogshaw School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who are hosting a whole week of magical adventures. At Buckinghamshire Railway Centre you can take a steam train ride with Frankenstein or over at Waddesdon you can meet some creepy critters, enjoy a spooky afternoon tea or explore the autumn adventure trail. You might also like to pick a pumpkin or take part in the adventure trail with Mr Worzel at Hartwell Nurseries.
For those looking for a full week of entertainment for the children the Jonathan Page Play Centre are running their October Half Term Playscheme which promises a week of science fun. Keeping on the science theme you might also enjoy Mark Thompson’s Spectacular Science Show at the Waterside Theatre which explores the strange and magical properties of matter!
If you enjoy being creative Queens Park Arts Centre will be running some craft workshops for children and teens with print and collage making as well as denim embroidery and oil painting.
For one day only on 27 October Comic Con comes to Aylesbury with its exciting retro gaming zone, cosplay competitions, face painting, fantastic movie cars to take selfies with, workshops and more!
You can enjoy the great outdoors this autumn with nature events at College Lake. Or maybe you’d like to explore the history of the town centre with the free to use digital heritage trail. Don’t forget the Love Exploring App which gets you out and about exploring the local parks and green spaces. This October, the ‘Halloween Dancers’ game is a spooktacular way to get active and stumble across a witch, werewolf or maybe even a zombie!
And finally, when you are ready to relax and unwind don’t forget to visit one of the towns great eateries! There’s lots to enjoy from favourites like pizza and pasta as well as ice cream, waffles and other sweet treats to delight the kids!
