Tickets are on sale for the eagerly awaited community production of The Wiz, presented by Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, coming to Aylesbury Waterside Theatre on Sunday 27th August 2023.
The Wiz is a super-soulful, musical retelling of L. Frank Baum’s classic children’s story, The Wizard of Oz. Packed full of gospel, soul, rock, and groovy 70s funk, you’re invited to follow the yellow brick road and be transported into a magical world of witches and wizards!
The show will star over 100 local children and raise money to fund specialist palliative and end-of-life care services for patients across Buckinghamshire and its borders.
Produced in partnership with Bucks Music Trust and Aylesbury Community Board and sponsored by many local businesses including Lightfoot Solicitors and Barratt Homes, the project aims to bring the local community together for a performance that raises vital funds for Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity.
Amy Quinlan, who is directing the project said:
“All of our young performers are full of talent and enthusiasm and raring to hit the stage. We’re so proud to be bringing the local community together and raising money to provide dedicated hospice care to local patients and their families.”
Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity’s first community production of Nativity! The Musical took to Aylesbury Waterside Theatre’s main stage last year, raising over £55,000 for the charity.
