One-day class with Leila Ward

ABOUT THE CLASS

In this workshop, we’ll explore how to use watercolours in a more intuitive and expressive way to create beautiful expressive and dynamic landscape paintings. You will need to have some experience of watercolour painting prior to this course so you know how the paint behaves (but you can be a beginner). Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience with watercolour painting, this course is designed to help you tap into your creativity and create beautiful landscapes.

In this course, you’ll learn:

Techniques for creating expressive and dynamic landscapes, including wet-on-wet and dry-brush techniques

How to create different moods and atmospheres in your landscapes using colour and brush strokes

How to capture the essence of a scene and simplify it

Tips for working with different watercolour papers, brushes, paints, and other materials to create unique effects and textures

How to incorporate other elements into your landscapes, such as buildings, trees, and people

Techniques for creating different types of landscapes, such as mountains, forests, and oceans

Through a series of demonstrations and projects, you’ll develop your watercolour painting skills and learn how to create expressive landscapes that capture the beauty and energy of the natural world. By the end of the course, you’ll have several completed projects and a deeper understanding of watercolour painting techniques, giving you the confidence to continue exploring and creating expressive watercolour paintings. So grab your brushes and let’s get started!
