In 2024, poet and writer Ellen Renton was commissioned as lead artist delving into Buckinghamshire’s nationally significant disability archives as part of Buckinghamshire Culture’s pilot STORIES season. Ellen’s proposal was to form a Collective of disabled artists with a connection to Buckinghamshire, who would respond to the archives from a variety of perspectives and artistic disciplines. Joining Ellen in the Collective are Guy Morris, Jess Starns, Arden Fitzroy and Noor-e-Sehar Ali who have been creating work in response to their research interests, both individually and collectively. The artists’ work is in a variety of disciplines including sculpture, printmaking, sound, radio, poetry, performance, mixed media and textiles. The opening of their INVISIBLE CABARET exhibition at Waterside Theatre Promenade is an opportunity to share the results of their research.
