An evening of choral music with a programme inspired by an avian theme, and also featuring works by the non-feathered William Byrd, in this, the 400th anniversary year of the great composer’s death.
‘Laudibus com Sanctis’ and ‘Sing Joyfully’ will be complemented by a range of other pieces spanning the ages including ‘The Turtle Dove’ by Ralph Vaughan Williams, ‘Il est bel et bon’ by Passereau, ‘Nightingales’ by Gerald Finzi, ‘Birds’ Lullaby’ by Sarah Quartel and Stanford’s ‘Blue Bird’. There will also be a couple of jazz classics, as well as the contemporary ‘Hope is the thing with Feathers’ by Christopher Tin, lyric by Emily Dickinson.
