Our next concert is on Saturday February 11th at 7.30pm and we would love to see you there!
We are joined by the fantastic Madeleine Pickering on violin to perform Max Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy, a lovely piece based on Scottish folk melodies.
We open the concert with Malcolm Arnold’s Peterloo Overture. Written as recently as 1968, it depicts the events of the Peterloo Massacre in Manchester in 1819. Featuring a jarring percussion rhythm making itself heard over the rest of the orchestra.
Also on the programme is Gustav Holst’s A Somerset Rhapsody, In the Mountain Country by English composer Ernest John Moeran, and Ballads by Grace Williams, a 20th century Welsh composer.
We will be conducted by Robert Hodge and the venue is St Mary’s Church. Aylesbury.
